The Planet Fitness Summer High School Card comes at a time when teens are feeling the emotional and physical damage of the pandemic.

In fact:

• According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Open Web, less than 15% of teens meet recommendations for daily physical activity during the pandemic.
• A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that more than 40% of teens said they had consistently felt sad or hopeless during 20213.
• According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, emergency room visits for suicide attempts in early 2021 for teens ages 12 to 17 increased 31 percent compared to 20194.

 Planet Fitness commissioned a national survey in April that showed teens are ready to make a positive impact on their lives, with 84 percent agreeing there's never been. The High School Summer Pass provides all young people with a safe space - a truly judgment-free zone - to prioritize their mental and physical well-being during the season .

Planet Fitness also offers free in-club fitness training to all members, including high school summer participants. Plus, Planet Fitness certified trainers have created 15 coach-led workout videos and 10 downloadable exercises exclusively for teens of all fitness levels, from full-body workouts and workouts to those focused on tone, strength, and more - even agility and movement. Helping high school athletes step up their game during the summer months.

Added incentives to work all summer

To promote and encourage healthy lifestyles for youth and families, all parents and guardians participating in the High School Summer Pass will be able to download a free digital copy of Robert Irwin's Family Table book after enrolling their youth in the program. Planet Fitness will award a $500 scholarship in each state (and the District of Columbia) and one $5,000 award at the end of summer 6.
